About the Author
Bill Marriott, Jr., became executive chairman of Marriott International, Inc., in 2012 after being the company's chief executive for forty years. He is an American business icon who has successfully created a multi-billion-dollar global hotel company. He divides his time between the Washington, DC, area and New Hampshire with his wife, Donna. They have four children, fifteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A personal view on a family business

Nothing new as far as how excellences in customer services is developed. But a family business that employs 10s of thousands world wide is impressive. A good story and easy read. You could knock it out in an afternoon.

Enjoyed this book. Bill Marriott does not just describe his successes; he also describes his failures and lost opportunities.

Very interesting book, and an easy read. I stay at Marriott hotels frequently, and once had the pleasure to meet Bill Marriott. It's interesting that the employees at Marriott really view their jobs as a career, and are very positive about the company. After reading this book, you understand why. Bill Marriott does not just describe his successes; he also describes his failures and lost opportunities, and the beginnings of Marriott with his parents root beer franchise. I can understand the great success of Marriott after reading this book. A very thoughtful, interesting book. I talked about the book with the staff at the Marriott where I was staying. Every Marriott employee, and everyone in the hotel industry, should buy and read this book.
