Angelica Salvatori, aka Sal, is anything but sober. As a hard partying and even harder living criminal, she considers her status as mastermind not just a job, but a calling. Between running her crew, trying to burn down her bar, and dealing with her occasional breaks with reality, she has enough on her plate. When she finds out that she has a twin she didn't know about, one that may be in serious danger because of something she did, Sal reacts by doing what any good delusional sociopath would do. She goes on a violence packed, cross country crime spree to find out who's hunting them and why.

When security consultant Cole Warner is hired by Sal's sister to track her down and keep her safe, he gets a lot more than he bargained for. While pursuing Sal through a series of explosions, gun fights and meetings with drug cartel, he starts to wonder if the woman he's trying to protect needs to be protected from herself. The more he gets to know Sal, the more he thinks that the self declared evil genius may have a death wish. At the same time, he also finds himself having more fun than he's ever had in his life, so she must be doing something right.

Sal and Cole soon find themselves drawn into the illicit underworld of human trafficking as they try to solve the mystery. With the help of Sal's diverse family, a suitcase full of explosives, and a recurring Gary Busey hallucination, the two will embark on a journey to confront a kingpin who may be as dangerous to Sal as she is to herself.

Just read it!
By Ms. T
This book is really good - surprisingly good for a first novel. The characters are very well done and completely engrossing - so just read it already - you won't regret it! I also bailed on it after the first page or two, thinking it was a little more gritty than what I like to read, but it's really not at all - I'm so glad I kept going and now I can't wait to finish it - in the meantime, I'm just enjoying the wild crazy ride. Very talented author - I'm looking forward to reading more from her.

A delightful romp through crime, America, and a couple very expensive sweaters
By Angi
This book is a highly detailed, well thought out, intriguing read that I enjoyed immensely.

The author manages to dangle little tidbits of hints throughout the book but manages to do it in such a way that you don't automatically know what is going to happen later on. She does it with such skill that you can't possibly guess how it all might tie-in up ahead, or if it even does. There is a good chance the hint might just be a figment from the imagination of a paranoid reader!

The main character is well... she's Sal. She likes fire, smokes and adrenaline rushes. Oh and creating new weaponry out of household goods. She uses over the top weapons when she gets the chance, but relies on the simplest forms of immobilization when possible. All choices are validated with sound logic and/or hallucinations (which are also strangely logical).

The supporting characters are so well rounded I believe there is something for everyone, including but not limited to: those lacking self empowerment, damsels in distress, hair dressers, pot heads, guys that resemble refrigerators, lackeys, mob bosses, evil masterminds, holocaust survivors, phobics of all manner of diagnoses, large Russian women, people with mental instability, people that like topless women, people that prefer men in pink mesh half shirts, gorgeous independent contractors and Gary Busey.

Adventure and a crazy family matters.
By Janette Skinner
This book is a well written first novel and concentrates mostly on the characterisation of the many players. The plot at times seems secondary to the crazy people who make up the main family. The issues of violence, mental illness and hallucinations are treated in an amusing and novel way and it is all so far fetched at times you have to laugh. However it is entertaining and the pace is good with numerous changes in location and lots of action. I ended up liking the most bizarre members of the family like the dope smoking brother Mooki and uncle Mumbai who looked like a refrigerator. The dialogue is colourful and gems such as the time Sal is being asked to let Cole handle a difficult situation she appears to agree then says,

`Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go shoot our hostage in the face.' Hilarious in context.

The mystery of the twins Angelica (Sal) and Tia being separated at birth and kept from each other unfolds bit by bit and keeps the story very interesting. They end up trying to go it alone and becoming involved in gun fights, drug lords and human trafficking.

It is all well written and most of the ends are tied up neatly at the conclusion with a drop of romance, but there is still room for a sequel to be written. It's not literature, it's well over the top, with lots of violence, but it is fun and keeps you reading.
